Air Fryer

Air Fryer Teriyaki Salmon

By Esther Lackie

This air fryer teriyaki salmon starts with a simple seasoning of paprika, chilli garlic spice, a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil. The salmon rests for 15 minutes, then goes into the air fryer, and the teriyaki sauce is brushed on for the final 2 minutes of cooking. I served mine over fluffy basmati rice, finished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli garlic spice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Drizzle of olive oil
  • Teriyaki sauce, enough to brush over the salmon
  • Sesame seeds, to finish
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish

Method

  1. 01

Prepare the salmon: pat the 2 salmon fillets dry with a kitchen towel.

  2. 02

Season: season the salmon with 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon chilli garlic spice, a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil, making sure the seasoning is spread over the salmon.

  3. 03

Rest: leave the seasoned salmon to stand for 15 minutes.

  4. 04

Air fry: place the salmon fillets in the air fryer and cook at 190°C / 375°F for 12 minutes in total.

Add the teriyaki sauce: when there are 2 minutes left on the 12 minute cooking time, open the air fryer and brush enough teriyaki sauce over the salmon to coat the top. Return it to the air fryer and cook for the remaining 2 minutes.

Finish and serve: plate the salmon, sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with chopped green onions.

Lackie's Notes

The teriyaki sauce goes on for the final 2 minutes rather than at the start, so it coats the salmon at the end of cooking.

I cooked this in my COSORI Turbo Blaze without preheating and didn't flip the salmon. Air fryers can cook differently, so these timings reflect the one I used; keep an eye on yours towards the end. If you're wondering about preheating, have a look at Do You Need to Preheat an Air Fryer?

Serving Suggestion

I served this salmon with fluffy basmati rice. Mashed potatoes or a fresh green salad would also work well alongside it.
