Easy Air Fryer Salmon Melt

This air fryer salmon melt came about after I made my Easy Air Fryer Salmon and wanted another way to use it. One piece of cooked salmon becomes a creamy filling with mayonnaise, mustard, dill, pickles and onion, then gets tucked between slices of bread with mozzarella and air fried until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted. I don't preheat my air fryer for these and I don't flip them either. They go straight into the basket and cook at 180°C for 8 to 10 minutes. It is an easy way to turn one piece of cooked salmon into three warm, cheesy sandwiches.

Make the salmon filling: flake the cooked salmon into a bowl. Add mayonnaise, mustard, chopped pickles, finely chopped red or white onion, fresh dill and salt. Mix until combined.

Lackie's Notes

This is one of the reasons I love having simple recipes that can work in more than one meal. I originally made the salmon on its own, then used one piece to make three of these sandwiches. I didn't measure the mozzarella, mayonnaise, mustard, dill, pickles or onion. I added enough to make the filling creamy and cheesy without losing the salmon underneath everything else. And yes, the ancestors were responsible for the quantities again.

Serving Suggestion

Serve the salmon melts warm while the mozzarella is still melted. I served mine with crisps on the side, but they can also be served on their own or with a fresh salad.
