Air Fryer Rolled French Toast

By Esther Lackie

French toast, but with a little twist. For these Air Fryer Rolled French Toasts, I trim the crusts from slices of bread, roll each one into a little spiral, dip them in a simple cinnamon and egg mixture and let the air fryer do the rest. There's no milk and no complicated filling. Just simple ingredients, golden bread rolls and a generous drizzle of caramel sauce when they come out. I served mine warm with fresh strawberries on the side.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • Store bought caramel sauce, for drizzling
  • Fresh strawberries, optional, for serving

Method

  1. 01

Trim and roll the bread: trim the crusts from the 4 slices of bread. Roll each slice into a spiral and secure it with a toothpick to help it hold its shape for now.

  2. 02

Make the egg mixture: crack the 3 eggs into a bowl, add the ½ teaspoon cinnamon and a pinch of salt, and beat together until combined.

Coat the bread rolls: dip each rolled piece of bread in the egg and cinnamon mixture until coated, keeping its rolled shape.

Place in the air fryer: place the coated bread rolls into the air fryer. Once they are sitting in place and holding their shape, remove the toothpicks before cooking.

Air fry: air fry at 180°C / 350°F for 10 minutes. I didn't need to flip mine in my COSORI Dual Blaze. Air fryers vary, so if you're using a different one, check the rolls as they cook.

  2. 06

Finish and serve: serve the French toast rolls warm, drizzled with store bought caramel sauce, with fresh strawberries alongside if you like.

Lackie's Notes

I used toothpicks to help the bread hold its rolled shape while I dipped it in the egg mixture. Once the rolls were in the air fryer and holding their shape, I removed the toothpicks before cooking. I didn't need to flip mine in the Dual Blaze.
