Air Fryer Chicken Legs
These Air Fryer Chicken Legs are exactly the kind of Sunday lunch I love: simple to prepare, packed with flavour and beautifully golden on the outside. I season the chicken with garlic, ginger, chilli flakes, paprika and togarashi, along with soy sauce and olive oil, then air fry at 180°C for 18 minutes, turning halfway through. I served mine with my Fresh Mozzarella Salad in Minutes for an easy lunch that feels fresh but is still seriously satisfying.

Ingredients
- Chicken legs
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Chilli flakes
- Paprika
- Togarashi
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Olive oil
- Soy sauce
Method
- 01
Pat the chicken legs dry.
- 02
Make a few shallow scores across the chicken legs. This helps the seasoning coat the chicken thoroughly and get into the scored areas.
- 03
Place the chicken legs in a bowl or suitable preparation dish.
- 04
Season with garlic, ginger, chilli flakes, paprika, togarashi, salt and black pepper.
- 05
Add olive oil and soy sauce.
- 06
Mix thoroughly, making sure every chicken leg is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture, including the scored areas.
- 07
Arrange the chicken legs inside the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving enough space around them for the hot air to circulate.
- 08
Air fry at 180°C for 18 minutes.
- 09
Turn the chicken legs halfway through cooking, at approximately the 9 minute mark.
- 10
Continue air frying for the remaining cooking time until the chicken is deeply golden on the outside and completely cooked through.
- 11
Check that the chicken is fully cooked before serving. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the chicken legs and the individual air fryer.
- 12
Remove from the air fryer and serve hot.

Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the chicken legs and the individual air fryer, so check the chicken is fully cooked through before serving.

Lackie's Notes
Don't skip turning the chicken halfway through. It helps both sides cook and brown more evenly.
Scoring the chicken before seasoning also gives all that garlic, ginger, paprika, chilli and togarashi somewhere to go instead of just sitting on the surface.
And as always with air fryers, keep an eye on your chicken the first time you make it. Chicken leg sizes vary and air fryers have personalities of their own.
The chicken should be completely cooked before serving. If checking with a food thermometer, the thickest part should reach a safe internal temperature of at least 75°C without the thermometer touching the bone.

Serving Suggestion
I served these Air Fryer Chicken Legs with my Fresh Mozzarella Salad in Minutes, made with fresh rocca leaves, cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, salt, black pepper and herbs. The fresh, peppery rocca and creamy mozzarella are a lovely contrast to the warm, deeply seasoned chicken and make this an easy but satisfying lunch.
